A grinder moves from the yard to a van, from the van to a site, from that site to another one because a lad needed it, and back to a different van. Every one of those movements was sensible. None of them was recorded.
So the hire invoice arrives for a tool you already own, sitting in a van two miles away. Or a £2,000 breaker walks and nobody can say which of four sites it was last on.
Paper sign-out sheets work right up until it is raining and the sheet is in the office.
What Wealza does about it
Issue to a person, a van or a site
Not everything goes to a named individual. Check a tool out to a location or a department when that is the truth, and to a person when it is.
Expected back dates
Put a return date on the check-out and anything overdue rises to the top of the dashboard. The conversation happens while the tool is still findable.
Audit a site by walking it
Scan as you go. At the end you have four lists: found, missing, in the wrong place, and there but never recorded. Most first audits turn something up.
Labels that survive the job
The QR code carries a random token, not a sequential number, so a label found on the floor tells a stranger nothing and cannot be used to walk your inventory.

- Does it work with no signal on site?
- Not yet — scanning needs a connection today. Offline capture is on the roadmap and is not something we would claim before it ships.
- Can a subcontractor be issued a tool?
- Yes. People in the register do not need a login, so anyone who holds equipment can be recorded whether or not they use the app.
- Can we track servicing and calibration?
- You can store service and calibration dates as fields today and see them on the asset. Scheduled reminders are not built yet.
- How long does it take to set up?
- An afternoon. Import your existing list from a spreadsheet, print labels from the browser, and start scanning.
